The University of Brighton is a public university in the UK with three campuses in Brighton, Eastbourne and Hastings. Its history can be traced back to the Brighton School of Art, which was established in the Royal Court, Brighton in 1858. It was qualified as a university in 1992 and was renamed the University of Brighton. As the world’s top art school, Brighton College of Art ranks among the top 40 in the world for its art and design majors in the 2019 QS World University Rankings, and 8th in the UK.
