The University of Bologna in Italy is recognized as the oldest university in the world, and is known as the four major cultural centers in Europe together with the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom, the University of Paris in France, and the University of Salamanca in Spain. At the beginning of its establishment, it was famous for its two majors, law and medicine, with a history of more than 900 years. In 1988, in the “European University Charter” signed by the presidents of 430 European universities, the University of Bologna was officially declared the alma mater of all European universities.
In the more than 900 years of history of the school, many outstanding alumni have emerged, including the pioneering figure Dante of the Renaissance, the astronomer Copernicus who proposed the theory of the center of the sun, as well as Petrarch, Durer, Erasmus, Gore Famous figures such as Dhoni, Marconi and Umberto Eco have all studied or taught here.
