The Lebanese International University (Liu) was originally established in accordance with Presidential Decree No. 5294 of Bekaa University in April 2001, with its first two campuses in Al-Khyara, the western Bekaa Valley and the capital Beirut. This name was later changed to Lebanon International University (LIU), for the founder had made the university exist in all six administrative regions, including Lebanon, as a truly national university vision.
